Inside Story – Caoimhe Slevin

Caoimhe Slevin, Retirement Claims administratorWednesday November 27, 2024

1.   Tell us about your current role; what does the job entail?

My role in IPF is retirement claims administrator.

This entails vetting all retirement claim paperwork before being sent over to the life companies. Once the claim is sent to the life companies I track the claim through our pipeline and communicate daily with the life companies to ensure the client claims surrender within the timeframe given to the client.

2.   How long have you worked in IPF?

Have worked for IPF since May 2022, so just over 2 years.

3.   What attracted you to working there?

I wanted something different with a good work-life balance, and it was clear from the start that IPF offered that. Additionally, the opportunities to learn and progress within the company are excellent.

4.   Tell us about your average day.

My average workday consists of 2-3 meetings with different advisors to discuss the progress of their cases, emailing life companies to follow up on claims, vetting retirement claims that come into my queue, and I am also on our retirement helpdesk line to answer any client calls.

5.  What do you enjoy about your job?

In my role, I interact with clients daily, helping them with queries or updating them on the progress of their claims, which I enjoy.

6.   What are the challenges?

In dealing with retirement claims sometimes things might not move as smoothly as we would like, so I think managing clients’ expectations and trying to get all my cases completed within a certain SLA can be quite challenging.

7.   Describe the work culture in the company.

IPF is like a family; the support from everyone is great, and there is always someone willing to help if needed. As I mentioned above, the work-life balance is excellent, and IPF truly values its employees.

8.   What advice would you give to somebody interested in working there?

If someone were considering joining IPF, I would tell them to go for it. There are many opportunities to progress and move up within the company if that’s what they desire. The ongoing training and courses are excellent, and there is always something new to learn.

9.   Is there something unique or interesting about your company that you’d like to share with potential job seekers?

In addition to being a close-knit group in the office, the company organises many social events, such as family fun days, Christmas panto, staff lunches, and end-of-quarter outings. The benefits are excellent, but one fantastic addition this year is the introduction of “Wellness Days”—after six months of service, you are entitled to two wellness days off.
